Awards & Recognition

ISTD has initiated the following awards on annual basis to encourage HRD professionals in the country.

BEST MEMBER AWARD

The Best Member award is given to a Member of ISTD based on his/her good. Standing in ISTD, position held at both Chapter and National Level. Contributions to training activities at Chapter and National Level. Contributions to training activities outside ISTD. Publications/papers published/contributed. Participation in research activities; and Any other significant contribution in the field of training and development.

Interested Life Members are requested to send their details as per the format attached, alongwith self-attested supporting documents for the Best Member Award at the earliest but not later than 30th September, 2021. The envelope containing the nominations, in three sets, with all relevant information be addressed to the Director and the envelope be super scribed as “Nomination for BEST Member Award 2020-21” and marked “CONFIDENTIAL”. A soft copy of nominations may also be sent at director@istd.in  & sraban2002@yahoo.co.in

While forwarding the nominations, all the facts mentioned in the nomination form may kindly be checked by your good self and duly counter-signed by the concerned Chapter Chairman/Secretary.  

SHARU RANGNEKAR MEMORIAL LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT AWARD

Late Mr. Sharu S. Rangnekar was a Chemical Engineer from Mumbai University with a Master of Business Administration degree from the U.S.A. He started his management career in 1951, worked in several multinationals till he took early retirement from Searle (India) as the Managing Director at the end of 1978. Thereafter he taught as Visiting Faculty at Tata Institute of Social Sciences and Management Institutes attached to Mumbai University. He has been a popular lecturer and writer on management topics. His books “In the Wonderland of Indian Managers”, “In the World of Corporate Managers”, “How to Learn Management from Your Wife” and “Soft Skills in Management” have become management classics. His books have been translated in Marathi, Hindi, Gujrati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

He was President Emeritus with Indian Society of Training and Development and significantly contributed towards the growth of ISTD at the early years and was a torch bearer of ISTD till his last days. In order to recognize his contributions towards the Indian L&D world, ISTD decided to start a prestigious award in the memory of Late Sharu Rangnekar in coordination with Sharu Rangnekar Trust.

BEST CHAPTER AND BEST SMALL CHAPTER AWARDS

The Best Chapter and the Best Small Chapter awards are given to Chapters based on : Growth in Membership; Enrichment of Chapter activities; Helping to establish new Chapters; Contributions to ISTD at National Level; Assistance to National Office/Regional Vice-Presidents in organising programmes; National/Regional Conventions, etc.; Collaborations with other Professional Institutions in training activities and mobilising Chapter level efforts for HRD.

NATIONAL AWARDS FOR INNOVATIVE TRAINING PRACTICES

The award is intended for organisations which have adopted innovative practices on human resources development in their respective organisations during the year.

YOUNG MALE/FEMALE TRAINERS AWARD

These awards have been instituted to encourage young Male and Female trainers, below 35 years of age, who have made substantial contribution in the area of Training and Development in Industrial and Corporate as well Service Organisations in the Country.

ISTD-FICCI AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN HR PRACTICES

To encourage innovative HR Practices for organisational excellence, ISTD has instituted an award of excellence named in the memory of a senior ISTD member called “P L Tandon” ISTD-FICCI award for excellence in HR Practices.

BOOK AWARD

The award has been instituted to encourage Indian writers who have made outstanding contributions to the understanding of management principles and practices in the country.

BEST PAPER AWARD

The best Paper award is given to the merited Best article published during the year in the Indian Journal of Training and Development (IJTD) of ISTD.

KAMLA AWARD

Kamla Award is given to a woman writer for the Best article published in IJTD during a year.

VIVEKANANDA AWARD

Vivekananda Award is given to an organisation for Excellence in HRD and Training.

CEO’S AWARD

The award has been instituted to recognise the CEOs, who are doing exemplary work in the field of HRD and Training and Development in their organisation in Private/Public Sector to Manufacturing/Services Sectors etc.

Fellowship Awards

A fellow shall be a person who has distinguished himself/herself in the field of Learning & Development after working in this field for at least 15 years and has at least 3 yeards standing as Life member of the Society and on whom Fellowship is conferred by the National Council on the basis of recommendation by the members of Fellowship Committee consisting of 5 existing Fellows including Chairperson of the Committee. The Chairperson of the Fellowship Committee will facilltate with other members of the Fellowship Committee and communicate the decision to the National President. The recommendation for awarding fellowship should be on a majority basis made by at least 3 out of the 5 members of the Fellowship Committee.
